The arch is open daily, but timings vary by the season:

April 1–September 30 from 10am–11pm (Wed–Mon); Tue from 11am–11pm

October 1–March 31 from 10am–10:30pm; Tue from 11am–10:30pm

Is the rooftop accessible to all?

With a valid ticket, access to the rooftop is allowed. The access to the rooftop is broken down into parts–242 steps take you to the mezzanine floor (also accessible by an elevator) but from here, the climb to the rooftop is only by steps (an additional 42 steps).

  • Open daily: Wed–Mon at 10am; Tue at 11am
  • Closing time varies depending on the season.
  • The last access to the monument is 45 minutes before closing time.
  • Popular visiting hours are just before sunset—watch the Eiffel Tower lights come on. It’s a special experience.

How to get to the arch

  • By public transport
    Metro lines 1, 2, and 6
    RER A
    Bus lines 22, 30, 31, 52, 73, and 92
  • By bike
    Vélib' stations are on rue Arsène Houssaye, avenue Hoche, rue Beaujon, rue Balzac and rue Traktir.
  • By car
    Paid parking is available at Parking Kléber-Trocadéro or Indigo Etoile Wagram.

Know before you go

  • Since the arch stands in the middle of one of Paris’ busiest roundabouts, it can only be accessed via the Passage du Souvenir (underground tunnel), on the Avenue de la Grande Armee side of the circle. 
  • The tunnel can be accessed from the Wagram exit of the Metro.
  • Visitors with disabilities can enter for free, without prior reservation.
  • Tools to facilitate comfort include: magnifying glasses, braille booklets, noise-cancelling headphones, and wheelchairs (all upon request).
  • Access is available to the museum only on the mezzanine floor (via elevator), not further. The rooftop can only be accessed via steps.

  • Museum documents (history and interiors) are available in 11 languages. They can be picked up at the Museum or downloaded.
  • Lecture tour—available in English and French.
  • Group tours—school group, social group, works council, or association

  • Family visits with storytelling and shadow puppets—one Saturday/month.

  • Bookshop-Boutique: Shop for souvenirs—the store is located in the museum hall; a valid ticket is a must to access it.

  • Storage facility is unavailable—maximum luggage allowed is  40x40x20cm.
  • Strollers are not allowed inside; you can always leave them with the security and collect them later.
  • Dogs are not allowed inside; guide dogs are.
  • Flags, banners, selfie poles, tripods, scooters, rollerblades, sharp objects, glass bottles, and weapons are prohibited.
