Everything you need to know about the Disney Illuminations Night Show

Disney Illuminations is the dazzling nighttime finale that closes out each day at Disneyland Park. This immersive spectacle combines fireworks, water fountains, music, lasers, and projection mapping on Sleeping Beauty Castle to bring Disney stories to life in spectacular fashion.

Expect sweeping visuals from beloved films like:

Frozen

Watch Elsa’s world come alive in a dazzling sequence set to Let It Go. The castle transforms into an icy wonderland with shimmering snowflakes, glowing blue projections, and magical snowfall effects that feel pulled straight from Arendelle.

The Lion King

Feel the emotion rise as the sun slowly ascends over Pride Rock, bathing the castle in golden light. You'll see silhouettes of Simba and friends marching across the savannah in a powerful tribute to Circle of Life.

Beauty and the Beast

Step into the enchanted ballroom where Belle and Beast share their iconic dance. Warm golden light, swirling spotlights, and floating rose petals create a romantic and nostalgic atmosphere as Tale as Old as Time plays.

Pirates of the Caribbean

Prepare for action as the castle becomes a stormy sea, complete with cannon blasts, burning sails, and pirate ships in full battle. This explosive sequence blends fire effects, dramatic music, and moments of surprise worthy of Jack Sparrow.

Star Wars

Get pulled into a galaxy far, far away with powerful visuals of X-wings, TIE fighters, and lightsaber duels. The Force pulses through the castle as red and blue beams clash, accompanied by the booming Imperial March and Star Wars theme.

This show is more than just entertainment; it is a carefully choreographed celebration of Disney storytelling.

Illuminations show...

...what time does it start?

  • Disney Illuminations takes place every evening at Disneyland Park and begins at the time of park closing.
  • The exact start time can vary depending on the season, but it typically starts between 9:30pm and 11pm.
  • Check the Disneyland Paris app or the daily schedule available at the park for the most accurate showtime on the day of their visit.

...where to watch?

  • The best viewing location for Disney Illuminations is the Central Plaza in front of Sleeping Beauty Castle. This area provides a full panoramic view of the projections, fireworks, and water effects.
  • Guests who prefer a more elevated or less crowded view can choose to stand near the entrances to Liberty Arcade. These spots offer slightly raised platforms, helpful for guests with children or shorter individuals in the group.
  • During peak seasons or weekends, find a spot 30 to 60 minutes in advance to avoid disappointment.

Tips for the best experience

  • Bringing a small blanket or foldable mat can make the experience more comfortable while seated. Carry an extra layer or jacket if you are visiting during cooler months.
  • Take photos or videos using night mode or low-light settings on their phones or cameras. Flash photography is not effective during the show and can be disruptive to others.
  • Children or guests who are sensitive to loud sounds may benefit from wearing ear mufflers or earplugs, as the fireworks and sound effects can be loud.
  • After the show, it may be worth lingering on Main Street, U.S.A., to avoid the large crowd heading to the exit. Shops remain open after the show, offering a relaxed way to end the night.
